What is a PonyCycle®, and how is it different from other ride-on toys?
PonyCycle® is the original child-powered ride-on, available as horses and unicorns. Unlike a rocking horse that stays in one place or a battery ride-on that relies on a motor, PonyCycle® moves forward through the rider's own up-and-down motion.
How does a PonyCycle® move?
The rider powers the pony through a repeated up-and-down motion.
- Sit in the saddle: Place both feet on the stirrups.
- Push down to move: Press the stirrups and move up and down to ride forward.
- Ride with control: Steer with the handlebars and stop with the brake or by putting a foot down. A one-way wheel prevents backward rolling.
Should I choose a horse or a unicorn?
Choose a ride-on horse for a classic, realistic pony look, especially in brown or chocolate. Choose a ride-on unicorn for a more imaginative style in popular colours such as pink or rainbow. Both use the same child-powered riding motion.

What size ride-on toy is right for my child?
PonyCycle® comes in three sizes: Size 3 for ages 3–4 (up to 55 lbs), Size 4 for ages 4–7 (up to 88 lbs), and Size 5 for ages 7+ (up to 176 lbs). If your child is between sizes, compare height and inseam with our size guide .
Is a PonyCycle® safe?
Every PonyCycle® is made with non-toxic materials and tested to meet ASTM F963 and EN 71 safety standards. Each model includes a stable base, hand brake, and one-way wheel that prevents backward rolling and helps the rider stay in control.
Can PonyCycle® be ridden indoors and outdoors?
Yes. It can be used on flat, smooth surfaces such as wood, tile, asphalt, and thin carpet. Slopes are not recommended.
