Choosing the right size of PonyCycle® toy is important to ensure your child has a comfortable and fun riding experience. This guide explains how to pick the perfect size based on age, height, inseam, and how Pedal Pads can help if your child is between sizes.
1. Choose by Age and Weight
From toddlers to teenagers, children need and deserve exercise. As kid-powered riding toy, PonyCycle® not only helps children coordinate and improve motor skills, but also encourages imagination and fun.
To benefit children of all ages, we offer various size options based on children’s age and weight:
- Size 3 for age 3-4 (max weight 55 lbs)
- Size 4 for age 4-7 (max weight 88 lbs)
- Size 5 for age 7+ (max weight 176 lbs)
2. Which Size to Choose for Age 4
For a 4-year-old, Size 4 is typically the best fit based on age and weight. However, children grow at different rates, so it’s important to also consider height and inseam for a perfect fit.
· Smaller size: More comfortable initially but may be outgrown sooner.
· Larger size: Lasts longer but may require more effort to pedal at first.
Tip: Don’t worry — Pedal Pads help kids ride larger ponies comfortably until they grow into the ideal size.

3. Choose by Inseam and Height
Unlike bikes, PonyCycle® requires kids to pedal with both feet simultaneously, so the best size is one that fits your child comfortably from day one.
· Make sure your child’s inseam is no shorter than the distance from the pony’s saddle to the pedals.
· This ensures they can reach the pedals and ride comfortably.
Tip: Use the size chart below to match your child’s inseam with the right pony size.
How to Measure Inseam
Simply put, your child’s inseam is the distance from the floor to their crotch. If you are not clear about your kid’s inseam length, please refer to the steps below to measure properly.

Which Pony Size Fits when Pedal Pads are Applied
When you are choosing PonyCycle® and decide to use Pedal Pads to address the in-between size issues, you should take inseam length and effective pedal height into consideration.

- Measure your kid’s inseam.
- Add the effective pedal height to the inseam length and get a result.
- Use this result as the final inseam and refer to the KID & PONY SIZE CHART for a right choice.
4. Can Children Under 3 Ride?
The recommended age is a guideline, but younger children can ride with proper adjustments.
· Use Pedal Pads to help them reach the pedals.
· Ensure supervision at all times.
With these adjustments, children under 3 can start experiencing the fun of riding while developing coordination and motor skills safely.
5. Can Adults Ride PonyCycle®?
While PonyCycle® ponies are primarily designed for children, anyone within the weight limit can enjoy a gentle ride:
